Rachel was raised as a slightly feral homeschool child in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Growing up on a small farm in a hollar, she spent most of her time horse back riding, reading fantasy novels, crafting anything she could get her hands on, and deeply connecting with the mountains she grew up in. Though she primarily still resides in those same mountains, her travels take her far and wide, working at Renaissance Festivals across the country as well as traveling purely for adventure and exploring the wild outdoors. She spends as much free time as she can hiking, kayaking, photographing flora and fauna, geeking out over wildlife, and making whatever she can with her own two hands. Her creations are inspired from her travels and love of the natural world, mythology from many stories and pantheons, and a deep admiration for of the artists of old. Stepping into the carving world combines her passion of natural handmade items, historical craftsmanship, and the magical world of mother nature. She began her carving career in October of 2024, under the tutelage of Nora Ogilvie with Saga of Antler and Bone. Since the beginning her passion for nature inspired her to carve the world around her, adding to the natural world with creativity, curiosity, and whimsy. Her eye focuses on fine details, realistic textures, and creating pieces to inspire the heart and stir the imagination. She is always digging deeper into her craft, pushing the edges of her skills, and attempts to let each piece teach her something new. While traveling on the road she carves in a 8Γ6 tent, doors wide open to the environment outside. Her studio consists of four tent walls, an outdoor carpet, wooden stool, and a folding table covered in antlers, wood chunks, found snail shells, and other natural detritus. She uses very fine jewelry bits and a hand held rotary tool to create her pieces. She works primarily with deer antler and bone, but will routinely work with wood and other mediums.
